Web Community

Rochester Pride Team

Rochester's Club Pride is group of teens affiliated with a national anti-drug group. It's a good organization and been I've training them how to administer a social networking site, complete with Facebook login via Gigya. I designed the Rochester logo and built the site using the Drupal Acquia Prosper theme.

Rochester Businessmen's Golf League

The secretary of the Rochester Businessmen's Golf League uses a league admin program from golfsoftware.com, but wanted the flexibility of using his own Web site for sharing rosters, results, documents and collecting registration info using Web-based forms. He also wanted to give Golfers the option of paying by credit card through the Web site and PayPal Web Payments standard (the free one). And an advertising management system, too. This site was built quickly on a reasonable budget. Cost compromises include the use of a "stock" (no customization by me) Drupal theme called Acquia Marina and Ubercart, the free ecommerce solution for Drupal sites. It's a darned slick site that came together in a big hurry.

Sanctuary Condo Association

The Sanctuary Condo Association raised the value of its properties by 300% in a down market by launching this full-featured Web site. You say "Really?" No. Not really. But this Web site will make it easier for a time-starved condo association board to communicate with its members, real estate agents, title companies and collection agents. Ok, not collection agents. The site uses forums, content subscription, mass email and a bevy of other end-user-administered tools.

Yorktowne Commons

Yorktowne Commons, like many other homeowner associations, needs a simple web site that they can use to update and inform association members as well as real estate agents and title companies. This site was our first foray into Drupal development. It uses a fairly "stock" theme and was fast and easy to build. It features classified ads for a neighborhood "craigs list," an online news blast, and an event calendar.

BSA Troop 125

The first site we built that employed a content management system was for Scout Troop 125. The site is a custom themed installation of Community Server 2007. Underneath the hood this is an integrated suite of ASP.NET Web applications, including a blog engine, discussion groups, photo gallery and a file folder system. The backend database is MSSQL 2005. It's probably one of the more heavily over-engineered Boy Scout Web sites you'll find. It requires Microsoft-based hosting. It's a "heavy" content management system with lots of bells, whistles, iron steam shovels and lead flywheels. By far, the "killer app" for the Scouts and parents has been the multiple-author blog, which is tied to an blog emailing service called Feedblitz.

Authors in April

The Authors in April program has brought authors and children together through the magic of books for over 25 years. This year (2009) we introduced a dynamic Web site complete with blogs, forums, flash videos SMS Alerts, and document management for registered users. The response from this community has been phenomenal. They are really enjoying the power of a true interactive Web site.

Denison Fiji

A site built for the Fraternity Alumni -- very top secret content of course. Always a lot worse than you would imagine.

Oakland County Quilt Guild

The Oakland County Quilt Guild site is built using Drupal 6.x and a raft of very kewl contributed modules. This site is is a customized version of the RoopleTheme Tapestry theme. It makes use of the Gallery2 photo album to showcase over 500 quilt photos and the Amazon Associate Module to present the many books in the Guild's member library.
